Case study: Warm Wales website
Our Client
Warm Wales – Cymru Gynnes is a community interest and ‘not for profit’ organisation, set up to deliver fuel poverty and associated programmes in Wales. They aim to alleviate fuel poverty in Welsh homes by delivering dedicated programmes of work. We were tasked with updating the Warm Wales – Cymru Gynnes brand along with developing a fully bilingual content managed website.

The Problem
Warm Wales – Cymru Gynnes’ previous site design looked amateur, did not adequately portray the new services they provide and was a ’static’ site ie. All changes needed to be done by the developer; which they felt that was not cost effective.
The Brief
Warm Wales – Cymru Gynnes’ new needs were a website:
- that they could update and edit themselves
- was bi-lingual (Welsh and English) but not two separate sites to update and
- where they could upload informational documents for downloading
- which looked professional and appealed to their target audience, both householders and housing developers
- had the option to password protect pages.
The Solution
Pentagon answered Warm Wales – Cymru Gynnes’ needs by designing and developing a Content Managed Website (CMS) using WordPress.
The new design looks both contemporary and professional and the CMS enables the Warm Wales – Cymru Gynnes team to easily add news items, job vacancies, case studies and documents etc. in both languages. They can also password protect any number of pages, a facility they use for example in their press centre.

The site features an easy to use interface for adding bilingual content.

Breadcrumb navigation shows the user's path to their current location.
Visitors to the new site can easily find what they require by navigating the simple menu structure or using the search facility. Key areas of the site are also highlighted by using graphic ‘calls to action’ and the use of a breadcrumb trail ensures the user always knows their position within the site.

Google Analytics gives you rich insights into your website traffic and marketing effectiveness.
The site code is very search engine friendly and sitemaps are in place that automatically notify Google, Bing, etc. of changes to the content. Warm Wales – Cymru Gynnes can also view detailed statistics about visitors to their website by the inclusion of Google Analytics.
